The Story

Passage to Cordova was inspired by my journey to Cordova, Alaska, aboard the Alaska Marine Highway ferry.

Traveling by water offers a different way of experiencing Alaska. Mountains rise directly from the shoreline, their colors and shapes shifting as the ferry moves through the passage. I painted this piece from that experience, capturing the layers of green and purple mountains meeting the cool blue water beneath a soft, cloudy Alaska sky.

The painting reflects one of the things I return to again and again in my work: the feeling of moving through a wild landscape and experiencing a place from within it.

Created in July 2026, Passage to Cordova is a one-of-a-kind original watercolor, signed by the artist.
